I frankly disagree with any framing of "old computers" as irrelevant or useless. honestly I disagree with the distinction. there may be practical reasons to need a faster or more powerful machine, but age doesn't really factor into that. there are plenty of fast "old computers". that more "fast computers" were produced more recently does not affect the older ones. there are still 8-bit machines in production.
and there is no difference in subjective novelty, for a yet unseen computer, whether it is from 3 decades ago or a decade ago or from today.
they are all the works of man. they are all little rocks with a tiny piece of divinity in them. they are all things yearning for a chance to glimpse a tiny shred of Being. they are all worthy of love.
I think the computer was quite frankly one of the worst things to happen to earth and to humanity. but now they are here. and they long for the touch of meaning. it is all they are for. who would I be, not to grant it?
